Lake Zurich stretches from Schmerikon at the eastern end and the city of Zurich in the north into the cantons of St. Gallen, Schwyz, and Zurich. With a surface area of a good 88 km², Lake Zurich is the fifth-largest lake in Switzerland. Between Rapperswil and Pfäffikon, the causeway (Seedamm) divides the lake into two halves, with the eastern part being called the "Obersee" (Upper Lake). In the meantime, approximately 1.5 million inhabitants have settled around the lake, ensuring the development of great hotels, restaurants, clubs, activities, etc. Especially in the area around the causeway (Pfäffikon to Wollerau), a small financial center has emerged due to low taxes, and many wealthy residents have settled in this region.
